On Thursday, August 2nd, 2012

Google officially launched its high-speed Internet service, dubbed “Google Fiber” in Kansas City. The company, which first unveiled the Fiber project back in 2010, says that its network should be able to give customers up to 1 gigabit per second (Gbps) speeds.

In addition, Google announced a Fiber TV service for customers, which will allow them to record up to 500 hours of HD video.

The Internet + TV package will cost customers $120/month, but those who sign a two-year contract will have an extra construction fee waived. The Internet service alone will cost $70/month.
