Google Rolls Out AdWords for Video on YouTube

On Monday, April 23rd, 2012

youtubeadwordsThe Search Engine Giant (Google) has launched Adwords for video. This framework designed to allow advertisers to capitalize on Youtube videos.

The program was soft launched last September for a select group, but now Google AdWords for Video is available to all and it essentially follows the same logic as Google’s text-based AdWords. What that means is that keywords will allow a company’s video ad to appear during relevant video searches, companies only pay for the targeted video ads that people actually view, and they have access to detailed information about how, when, and where their ads were viewed.

“You can promote your video by keyword to appear in YouTube search results, or you can choose to show your ad against content your customers are most interested in—such as sports or music,” said Baljeet Singh, YouTube group product manager. “On average, we’ve found that YouTube video ads drive a 20 percent increase in traffic to your website and a 5 percent increase in searches for your business.”

To encourage new AdWords customers, Google is offering them a $75 credit, for a total of $50 million in free advertising.

A short primer video about the Google Adwords for video has been launched in a number of different languages for global users. Watch the video below for more details on how the program works…
